Town Living

I have been living in this town
Thus long
Doing all the things customary
To living in a town
Sometime beating the traffic light
Sometime bribing the cop
Sometime cheating a penny or two

It has been too long in this town
Walking its pebble lane
Drinking its bottle water
And dreaming of that delicious sparking
Spring water at home

I have been too long in this town
Spending time in the traffic jam
Queuing up in the supermarket
And waiting for my number to be called
At the bank teller
And the clinic
And surely missing those time at the grocery shop
At home
Where I wait and have tea and cookie

I have been too long in this town
Till I forget about those soft pleasing
Flow of the stream, tranquil and restful.

I have been too long in this town
So use to the sound of the horns
And the humming trains
Forgetting the music of the humming bee
And the sound of the morning rain

I have been too long in this town
So long that this house seems like home.
Forgetting that I am going home
And having to answer for all my forgetfulness
And deeds…

Regrets regrets regrets
For being too lost in this town
For letting the town be me

I have been too long in this town
